Frémestroff
Frémestroff ( German: Fremersdorf ) is a commune with 299 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Forbach and Canton Grostenquin.
Geography
The village is located in the northeast of Lorraine, about 15 kilometers south of the border town of Freyming -Merlebach.
History
The place was first mentioned in 1179 as Frimesdorff. Other names were Fremestorff ( 1260 ), Freymestroff ( 1286), Vemmestroff ( 1288), Frimerssdorff ( 1365 ), Fremersdorff ( 1581), Fremestorff (1594 ) and Frémestroff ( 1684).
