History

Frettenheim was first mentioned in 767 in the Lorsch Codex. At that time it was still called fries home because of the founders, who established his court there, Frido said. It was not until 1402 Frettenheim received its present name.

1575 was Frettenheim part of the Palatinate, from 1755 were the Barons of Heddersdorf tithe gentlemen.

During the First Coalition War French revolutionary troops had occupied in 1794, the left bank of the Rhine. 1798 to 1814 belonged to the canton Frettenheim Bechtheim in the department of Thunder Mountain. Structures

The small community has two Baroque churches and a village hall, which was used until 1967 as a school, serving since 1981, its current usage.
