Kettenheim

Kettenheim is a municipality in the district Alzey- Worms in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Alzey -Land.

Geography

Kettenheim is located south of the city in Alzey Alzey hills. The municipality also includes the living spaces railway settlement, Hesse Steiger mill, meadow mill and Wormser Straße.

History

Formerly known Kiedenheim, the place was in the lower Nahegau whose inhabitants were of old against the lords of the castle to Alzey liable for military service. Gender had the dieter of Kiedenheim large estates of Ruprecht III. to hereditary fief. Northeast of Kettenheim was probably shortly after the Thirty Years War sunken village Egersheim or Ergisheim.

Kettenheim belonged to the end of the 18th century Palatine Oberamt Alzey. After the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794 ) Chain Home was from 1798 to 1814 into the canton of Alzey in the department of Thunder Mountain. After the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) agreements, the region came in 1816 with the province Rheinhessen in the Grand Duchy of Hesse.

Parish council

The local council in Kettenheim consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Structures

  • Town Hall of 1686 with richly carved timber and window bays on a hall.
  • Hesse Steiger mill consisting of two properties (both former water mills) Hesse Steiger mill I: evidence of the existence of records of baptisms, births ... in church books since at least 1570, before the mill probably belonged to the monastery Weidas in Dautenheim, so much earlier existence possible.
  • Hesse Steiger Mill II: Proof of existence since 1840 through land fire in the archives of the city of Alzey. Location: on the district border to Alzey and Dautenheim below the Dautenheimer motorway viaduct.
