Geographical location

Gau- Bickelheim located south of Wißbergs in the Rhine-Hessian hills.

History

Gau- Bickelheim comes first documented in 1128 under the name " Beckel home " before. Later place names were " Gaubeckelnheim " ( 1314), " Gaubekilnheim " ( 1329 ), " Gaubecklinheim " ( 1355 ), " Gawbickelheim " ( 1515), " Gauböckelheim " (1815 ).

Through the village leads the federal highway 420 The Federal Highway 61 leads north-west to south-east past it. The connection point Gau- Bickelheim (No. 52) is not directly on the B 420, but is accessible via the federal highway 50.
