Gönnheim
Gönnheim is a municipality in the district of Bad Durkheim in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Wachenheim on the wine route.
Geographical location
The wine-growing village lies between the Haardt Mountains and the Rhine near the German Wine Route. Neighboring towns are home Friedel, Ellerstadt and Rödersheim -Gronau.
History
771 Gönnheim was first mentioned in documents as Ginn home.
The number of inhabitants increased from Gönnheims 124 in 1521 to 184 in 1592.

The local council in Gönnheim consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms
The coat of arms description reads: "In silver on green ground of the holy Martin in blue armor riding on a border to the left goldbezäumten and behuftem mold, his red coat dividing by a silver sword with a seated on the ground beggar with golden loincloth ".
On May 15, 1845 authorized King Ludwig I of Bavaria, formally the coat of arms.

Every year on the first weekend in July, the Gönnheimer wine days and on the last weekend in August, Martin Kerwe instead.
Traffic
By Rhein- Haardt Bahn (Mannheim - Bad Durkheim ), an overland tram, Gönnheim is connected to the railway network.
