Indiana Senate

The Senate of Indiana (Indiana State Senate ) is the upper house of the Indiana General Assembly, the legislature of the U.S. state of Indiana.

The chamber of parliament is made up of 50 members representing an electoral district respectively. Deputies are elected for four -year terms; limiting the terms of office does not exist.

The meeting room of the Senate is located together with the House of Representatives in Indiana State House in the capital, Indianapolis.

Statutes of Indiana

The Senate of Indiana operates according to a developed internal political Rules of Procedure, and largely maintained tradition. These guidelines are the same with those which regulate the upper houses in most State Senate in the United States. The first official working day of the Senate in a year takes place after the first Monday in January on the first Tuesday. In odd-numbered years, the Senate must (not necessarily below ) come together at 61 days, but what should be done no later than April 30. This is usually popularly called "a long session". In even-numbered years in which the elections are held, the Senate must in 30 days (not necessarily below ) come together, but what should be done no later than March 15. This is usually "a short session" called. The only time that the Senate can come together outside this date is when the governor convened a special session.

The Senate must arrive at each scheduled meeting day later than 13:30 clock. Two-thirds of the Senate must be present at a meeting, so that they begin. The senators must be present at each meeting, unless they are excused by the President Pro Tempore. Members who are not present, the meeting may be forced still to visit or be expelled from the chamber.

The Lieutenant Governor of Indiana is the President of the Senate, and it is responsible for the assurance that the Senate guidelines are followed by his representatives. At votes he only participates to bring about a decision in stalemates. In the absence of the Vice- Governor of the respective President Pro Tempore stands in front of the plenary sessions. This is elected by the majority party of the Senate and later confirmed by the chamber. He is largely responsible for the agenda of the Senate.

If a debate in the Senate occurs, each Senator Permission is granted to comment on the particular case. A senator can not be more than once to talk to a concerns, without approval from the rest of the Senate is present, which is achieved by a Senate vote. A Senator can not speak for more than half an hour and this at any time. It can also be brought by a vote at any time during his speech to silence.

Conditions

The Senate must not contain more than fifty delegates in accordance with Article 4 of the Constitution of Indiana. The term of office of a senator shall be four years, with 25 senators are elected every two years. In contrast, there is no limitation on the term of office of times a senator can be elected.

Requirements

According to Article 4 of the Constitution, a citizen of the United States, a candidate must as a Senator for at least two years prior to his candidacy be said to have been at least a year living in the constituency, who completed his 25 years at his Amtsvereidigung and he may not, during his tenure in the Senate no other public office in the State or the Federal Government hold.
