Jaun Pass

The Jaun Pass connects the Canton Fribourg Gruyère region with the Simmental in Bernese Oberland. It is located between the towns of Broc and Reidenbach (municipality Gstaad ) and performs Jaun, the only German -speaking community in the Gruyère region. The pass is at 1,509 m in the municipality of Gstaad.

History

After the Franco-German war the construction of a military road was for strategic reasons, to connect the important military centers bull and Thun, decided that was finally completed in 1878. 1941, the artillery factory Jaun Pass was built on the pass.

Today, with a restaurant on top of the pass and winter sports equipment is tourist use in the foreground.
