José Arce

José Arce (* October 15, 1881 in Lobería; † July 28, 1968 ) was an Argentine diplomat, physician and professor of surgery.

Life

Arce received his medical degree from the age of 21 successfully. From 1913 to 1920, 1924-1928 and 1934-1938 he was a deputy in the Argentine National Congress. In 1918 he became director of the surgical department and 1922 President of the Universidad de Buenos Aires. He did much to ensure the expansion of medical education in Argentina. By 1941, he headed the Institute of Thoracic Surgery. After he retired from the medical teaching.

Arce was Ambassador of Argentina in China from 1946 to 1950 and United in the newly formed nations. During this time he represented Argentina 1948/1949 of the Security Council and served as president of the UN General Assembly, the second special session of the Palestine crisis in 1948.
