Junior World Orienteering Championships

The Junior World Orienteering Championships (English: Junior World Orienteering Championships, abbreviated JWOC ) the Junior World Championships in orienteering and are discharged annually since 1990.

Since 1983, took part each year an international Junior Championships, which were held from 1986 to the European Championships (see Junior Orienteering Championships ). First time in 1990 a World Youth Championship was held, Junior European Championships are not played since.

The program of the Junior World Orienteering Championships includes three individual events and a relay competition. Originally, the Junior World Championships were held only in a classical distance and a relay competition. Already in 1991 in Germany, however, a short distance was included in the official program, and by 2004 there were thus two individual races and a team competition. 2004 in Poland, the short distance, as in the World Championships for men and women, in middle distance has been renamed. A year later, in Switzerland an unofficial Sprint, carried out in cooperation with the PostFinance Sprint and 2006 in Lithuania finally the sprint distance was recorded as the third single competition in the official world championship program.
