Klimovsk

Klimowsk (Russian Климовск ) is a town in Moscow Oblast in Russia, with 56 186 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

It is 53 km south of Moscow, on the north - south rail highway Moscow - Kursk. It is about the same flächenmaßig divided by the railway line, or from the parallel old Simferopol highway, in two large, independent districts, Wessennjaja ( Весенняя ) in the northeast and Griwno ( Гривно ) in the southwest. Wessenjaja can be considered as the city center, here lives the majority of the population.

History

Founded in the first half of the 19th century as Klimowka ( Климовка ), the village was named after its first inhabitants named Klim. In 1882 it was renamed the town in its present name. At the same time the city was founded along with a factory looms.

Against 1928, the city grew thanks to the increasing industrialization of a city with 11,000 inhabitants. 1940 Klimowsk was also charged administratively to the city.

Traffic

Economy and transportation infrastructure, the city is closely linked to Moscow and the northern border and the next larger town of Podolsk, a large proportion of the working population commutes to work there.

In addition to the irregularly several times hourly free regional trains ( Elektritschki ), the station Griwno and rarely use the breakpoint Wessennjaja, several bus lines connect with Klimowsk Podolsk and the south of Moscow. The inner-city public transport system consists of a few bus lines.

Economy

Education

The city is home to a total of four state secondary schools, a lyceum, a gymnasium and a special school and an art school.
