Leidenborn

Leidenborn is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. She is a member of the collective municipality.

Geography

The place is located in the western part of the Eifel, a few kilometers east of the border with Luxembourg. Neighboring municipalities are Großkampenberg and Kesfeld in the north, Üttfeld in the south, Sengerich in the south Herzfeld in the southwest and Lützkampen in the West.

To Leidenborn includes the hamlets and residential places Hallischbach, yard Lützkampenerbrücke, Huffelsheck, Lautzenbrücken Erath, suffering Borner Muhle, Regerhof, Reiffersbach and granulator.

Almost three-quarters of its territory is used for agriculture, over 20 % are forest area (as of 2011 ).

History

The ending of suffering Borner place name indicates an origin during the medieval clearing phases. By the end of the 18th century Leidenborn belonged to the rule Dasbourg in the Duchy of Luxembourg.

As mayor Leidenborn received in the Prussian time an office building and a small police station with jail. After the site was initially developed very positively, he was thrown back by the construction of the Western Wall and the Battle of the Bulge. At the front of the Switch town was destroyed about 90%. The resulting minefields tore after the war many civilians to death.
