Manderscheid, Bitburg-Prüm

Manderscheid is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. She is a member of the collective municipality.

Geographical location

The place is in Islek, a western ridge of the Eifel. The church draws about 3 km towards the east-west direction along the county road 140.

History

The area has been inhabited since Roman times - the remains of a building, probably a signal station, can be found on a nearby hill. The present town was built in the late medieval clearing phase. Within the Duchy of Luxembourg corresponding rule New Castle was Manderscheid capital of a dairy farm, also called " yard Manderscheid " in which the County and the neighboring towns Heilhausen, Kinzenburg ( part ), Kopscheid, Lauperath ( with the Bersch Eider Court and the hamlet Scheidchen ) and Pintesfeld included. The dairy Manderscheid belonged to the court Waxweiler. The Manderscheider mill appeared in the records for the first time in the 16th century, it was until the 1960s operated.
