Olmscheid
Ölmscheid is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. She is a member of the collective municipality.

Geography
The local church is situated in the Islek, west of the Eifel and only a few kilometers east of the state borders of Luxembourg and Belgium. A wooded area extends west and north of the main town.
51% of its territory is used for agriculture, 38 % are passed by forest.
To Ölmscheid includes the residential places Hiermeshof, yard Dell blades, Lindenhof and Olmscheiderfurth. The lying northeast of the core local Weilerstein noise heard only partly Ölmscheid, sometimes it lies on the boundary of Kickeshausen.
Neighboring municipalities are Irrhausen in the north, Kickeshausen in the east, itching in the south and in the west Daleiden.
History
Formerly Ölmscheid site of a prehistoric Celtic Fliehburg " Hicastel " of the remains are preserved today. The Romans left the remains of a watchtower. The result is the place probably in the late medieval clearing phase, after which the " distinguishable " refers in the place names. He was first documented in 1282 as " Oelmerscheit ". By the end of the 18th century belonged to the dairy Ölmscheid Binscheid in the Luxembourg rule Dasbourg in the neighborhood Vianden.
After taking possession of the Austrian Netherlands (1794 ), which included the Duchy of Luxembourg, and the acquisition of the French administrative structures (1795 ) Ölmscheid was the seat of a canton in the Mairie Arzfeld, of the district Bitburg in the department of forests belonged administratively.
Following decisions at the Vienna Congress in 1815, the region came to the Kingdom of Prussia. Under the Prussian administration was Ölmscheid of 1816 at the same mayoralty in the newly built circuit Prüm in the Trier region.

The local council in Ölmscheid consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Economy and infrastructure
Ölmscheid is an agricultural municipality today. Since 1971, when only 28 farms were counted, the agricultural area of 348 ha to 304 ha ( 2007) has decreased, which were managed by nine companies.
East of the local community, the country road is 13, which connects with Arzfeld Karlshausen. The above also achievable Federal Highway 410 is located two kilometers north of Ölmscheid.
