Sevenig (Our)

Sevenig (Our) is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. She is a member of the collective municipality and is located just east of the border triangle Germany -Belgium- Luxembourg.

Geography

The street village located east of the Our in a basin of Irsen. It is in Islek in the South Eifel. To Sevenig (Our) includes the residential places mill and Wehrbüsch.

With 49.7 %, almost half of its territory is used for agriculture, 46.5 % are of forest existed (as of 2011 ).

Sevenig bordered to the north Harspelt, Roscheid to the east, Dahnen in the south and west Clervaux ( Luxembourg ) and Burg- Reuland (Belgium ).

History

By the end of the 18th century the city belonged to the rule Dasbourg in the Duchy of Luxembourg.

In 1794, French revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, to which the duchy of Luxembourg belonged at the time occupied and annexed in October 1795. Under the French administration Sevenig belonged to the Canton Arzfeld, who was administratively assigned to the district Bitburg in the department of forests.

Due to the decisions on the Congress of Vienna, the former Luxembourg territory east of the Sauer and the Our 1815 assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. The place belonged from 1816 to the mayoralty Harspelt in the new circle Prüm in the Trier region and from 1822 until the end of World War II to the Rhine province. After 1936, the village belonged to the Official Daleiden - Leidenborn. At the end of World War II, large parts of the town were destroyed.

The name component " (Our) " received the municipality on 1 January 1971.

The local council in Sevenig consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Economy and infrastructure

Sevenig (Our) is an agricultural municipality today. Since 1971, when a further 20 farms had been counted, the agricultural area of 249 ha to 115 ha ( 2007) has decreased, which were managed by three companies.
