Preischeid
Preischeid is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. She is a member of the collective municipality.
Geography
The place is located in the western part of the Eifel, close to the Luxembourg border in the north of the German - Luxembourg Nature Park.
To Preischeid includes the residential places Dörnauelsmühle, Machtemesmühle, Oelverhof, Preischeiderhöhe and Preischeiderley.
With 46%, about half of its territory is used for agriculture, 49 % are forest existed (as of 2011 ).
Neighboring municipalities are Dasbourg in the north, Daleiden in the east, Sevenig at New Castle in the south and Munshausen ( Luxembourg ) to the west.
History
On a birth of the village in the late medieval clearing the suffix "- distinguishable " of Preischeider place name suggests. He was first mentioned as " Prinscheit " in 1290th Until 1794, the village belonged to the dairy Daleiden in the reign Dasbourg in the Duchy of Luxembourg. During the French administration (1795-1814) Preischeid was managed by the Mairie Dasbourg and belonged to the canton of Clervaux in the forests department. Under the Prussian administration ( after 1815 ), the village belonged to the mayor's office in the county Dasbourg Prüm.

The vast majority of the population is a member of the Roman Catholic Church. The place belongs together with the neighboring Affler to the Catholic parish Preischeid, which is managed by the Diocese of Trier. The Catholic church Preischeid, together with the places Dahnen, Daleiden, Dasbourg and Irrhausen a parish community.
Policy
The local council in Preischeid consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Economy and infrastructure
Preischeid is an agricultural municipality today.
