Littlechild (English, Little Child ') is a song by British band The Beatles in the year 1963. It appeared on her second studio album With the Beatles. It was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon under their joint copyright of Lennon / McCartney.

Formation

Littlechild was specifically written for Ringo Starr's vocal contribution to the second album by the Beatles. McCartney described the song looking back as a work song to populate the album. He also admitted that he had a part of the melody borrowed from the song Whistle My Love by Elton Hayes, which also took place in the Walt Disney movie Robin Hood and his Merrie Men use.

Ultimately, Lennon and McCartney sang instead of Ringo Starr. Meanwhile vocal contribution for With The Beatles I Wanna Be Your Man.

Recording

The song was recorded in 1963 at Abbey Road Studios in London. It was produced by George Martin song, sound engineer was Norman Smith. Overall, the band struggled with the recording of the song and the recordings dragged unusually long time. Two Takes on they took on 11 September 1963 which was followed by 16 more takes on the following day. These recordings were discarded, and on 3 October 1963 a third addition takes were still recorded. On October 3, Ringo Starr also took on his vocals for I Wanna Be Your Man.

Publication

Littlechild appeared in mono on 22 November 1963, the second album by the Beatles. The stereo version was released a week later. On single the song was not decoupled. Also, it never belonged to the live repertoire of the Beatles.
