Luzzi

Luzzi is a town in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria area of ​​Italy with 9478 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Luzzi is located 28 km north of Cosenza.

The neighboring municipalities are Acri, Bisignano, Lattarico, Montalto Uffugo and rose.

Attractions

On the territory of the municipality is the Abbazia di Sambucina, the first foundation of a Cistercian monastery in Calabria. Santa Maria della Matina is a former Benedictine monastery, it lies north of the Abbazia di Sambucina. The monastery is now converted into a country house and has thus lost its original appearance.

A church built in 1166 was rebuilt in the 17th century.

The community is known for its large annual hosting of the runs end of September to the national championship in the discipline of mountain races. The route goes from Luzzi up into the Sila, and is under the TIVM - discharged - Trofeo Italiano Velocità Montagna.
