Manny Malhotra

Emmanuel Noveen Malhotra ( born May 18, 1980 in Mississauga, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League on the position of the center since October 2012. After Robin Bawa, he is the second player of Indian descent in the NHL. His brother in law is the Canadian basketball player Steve Nash.

Career

Malhotra, the son of an Indian father and a French-Canadian, began his career as a hockey player with the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League, where he played from 1996 to 1998. The defensively oriented striker collected in two seasons with the Storm 95 scorer points in 118 games. The highlight of this period was about winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup at the end of 1997/ 98, as well as the distinction of having the Bobby Smith Trophy.
