Naga, Cebu

Naga ( officially: City of Naga, Cebuano: Dakbayan sa Naga; Filipino: Lungsod ng Naga ) is a Philippine city in the province of Cebu. The city is part of the metropolitan area Metro Cebu.

Naga is home to a large power plant and a cement factory in Baranggay Tinaan.

History

Naga was founded on June 12, 1829.

On 2 September 2007, in a referendum the Republic Act No. 9491, which provides for the collection of the municipality to Naga City (Component City ), adopted by majority. 13,823 voters voted for the adoption of Republic Act No. 9491, 789, however, the turnout was 33 %. Was certified by the Republic Act No. 9491 on September 5, 2007. The official name of the city is the City of Naga. Naga was after Bogo and Carcar the third class municipality in the province of Cebu, which was raised in 2007 to the city.
