Cebu
Cebu ( [ sɛ ˑ ꜜ bû. ] Cebuano: Sugbo [ sug.bɔ ] ) is a province of the Philippines in the central islands of the Visayas. The main island of the province of Cebu.
Geography
Cebu is a province of Central Visayas (Region VII) region, the other three provinces are formed by the islands of Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
The capital of the province, Cebu City, located on the east coast of the island of Cebu.
For Cebu Province adjacent to the main island include additional 167 neighboring, smaller islands, including
- Mactan ( 251,000 inhabitants, 2000) in the East
- Bantayan ( 120,000 inhabitants, 2000) in the Northwest
- Malapascua ( 5,000 inhabitants) in the northeast
- Olango ( 32,000 inhabitants, 2009) east of Mactan
- The archipelago of Camotes Islands ( 89 324 inhabitants, 2007) in the east, to them, is the largest lake in the province of the 5-km long Lake Danao
The province has an area of 5088.4 km ² and 3,848,919 million inhabitants ( 2007). Here is the prevalent on the island of Cebu Cebuano language, also called " Visayan " spoken. As a lingua franca used Tagalog; Official and business language is English. In the province of the Central Cebu National Park are, the smaller Sudlon National Park and Guadalupe Mabugnao Mainit Hot Spring National Park.

Attractions
The Church of Patrocinio de Maria in Boljoon is the oldest surviving original stone church in Cebu. In 1999, the church was declared by the National Historical Institute of the Philippines to the " National Historical Landmark " (Eng. "National Historic Landmark " ), in the following year declared the National Museum of the Philippines, the Church of the " National Cultural Treasure " (Eng. " National Cultural treasure "). It stands on the suggestion list for the Philippines except a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, as baroque churches in the Philippines since 2006.
