Novéant-sur-Moselle

Novéant -sur -Moselle is a commune with 1980 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

Novéant lies on the Moselle, 14 kilometers southwest of Metz. The west of the municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

History

The name of the village derives from the Latin ad NOVAM viam ( " on the new road " ) from, Novéant was in the Middle Ages ecclesiastical possessions and came to France in 1661.

1915-18 was the place the Germanized name Neuburg i.Lothr. and 1940-44 Neuburg an der Mosel.

Traffic

Novéant has a station on the railway Nancy- Metz, who is served by local trains of TER Lorraine. From 1912 to 1933 also joined the Electric Train Novéant - Gorze Novéant with the neighboring community Gorze.
