Ohio House of Representatives

The House of Representatives from Ohio ( Ohio House of Representatives ) is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio. The parliamentary chamber came the first time on March 3, 1803 in Chillicothe together.

The chamber is composed of 99 members, representing an electoral district respectively. The deputies are elected in the even numbered years for two -year terms. There is an official restriction to four consecutive terms (eight years ). The terms of office are as below, if they are less than two years apart. Should make for an appointment to complete the unexpired term of another Member, this will not be counted. The conference hall of the House of Representatives is located together with the State Senate in the Ohio State House in the capital, Columbus.

Structure of the chamber

Speaker of the House is the Speaker of the House. He is initially elected by the majority faction of the chamber before the confirmation by the whole Parliament follows. The Speaker is also responsible for the course of legislation and monitors the shutdowns in the various committees. Other important office holders are the Majority Leader ( Majority Leader ) and the leader of the opposition (minority leader), who are elected by the respective fractions.
