Orschwihr

Orschwihr is a commune with 1030 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Guebwiller, Guebwiller to Canton and is a member of the Association of Municipalities Région de Guebwiller. On 20 August 1989, the spelling of the borough's name was set to Orschwihr (previously Orschwir ).

Geography

The municipality is situated on the edge of the Vosges Massif Quierenbach who enters here in the Upper Rhine Plain. The distance to the towns of Colmar and Mulhouse, in the north to the south is around 25 kilometers. The reaching into the Vosges Mountains west of the municipal area is forested ( Forêt d' communale Orschwihr ), there is obtained on the eastern flank of the Schimbergs 576 m above sea level, the highest point.
