Hirtzfelden

Hirtzfelden is a commune with 1171 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Guebwiller, founded the Canton Ensisheim and the 2000 Local Government Association Essor du Rhin.

Geography

The village is situated in the Upper Rhine valley between the Rhine and Ill, about halfway between Breisach am Rhein and Mulhouse. The 22.1 km ² large municipality is mainly by arable land marked ( hallways call Shrouded way Schlittweg, Rust Tough spell, Colmar path Ensisheimer Street, Gemeindeackerweg, midfield, center pull, Allmendfeld, Kurzerzug, Fessenheimer street, Basel way Munch Hauser way Battenheimer way manifold Schlittweg, Fahnackerweg, Diebsweg and Neugesetz ).

Almost 30 % of the municipal area is wooded. The community forest ( Forêt d' communale Hirtzfelden ) consists of two parts: Le coppice in north-eastern and part of the Bois de Rothschild Leible in the West.

Through the east of the municipality area leads the Rhine- Rhône Canal, which is now only drive yet of pleasure boats. At the time of entry into service in the 1830s, a small port was two kilometers east of the village, who brought an economic boom.

Neighboring municipalities are Rustenhart in the north, Balgau in the northeast, Fessenheim in the East, Rye House in the southeast, Munchhouse in the south, and Réguisheim Meyenheim in the west and Oberentzen and Niederentzen in the northwest.

History

A first mention of the village under the name Hiruzfeld as a gift to the Abbey Murbach dates from the 8th century. The name derives from the word deer that comes in the arms of the municipality expressed. In the forest area Bois de Rothschild Leible artifacts have been found from the Roman period in grave mounds. It is believed that there was a junction of Roman roads Belfort Gap - Breisach and Basel - Egisheim here. Hitzfelden belonged to the Habsburgs, later regional lords from soldiers and Ottmar home. 1446 was Hirtzfelden in possession of Basel, in the 18th century, depending on the Bailiwick Ensisheim.

1920, the remains of a cemetery dating back to the Merovingians were found.

Demographics

To the old village on the road Ensisheim - Rustenhart arose in the late 1970s, star-shaped, numerous new rows of houses. The population Hirtzfeldens doubled in the last 45 years.
