Rustenhart

Rustenhart ( German race Hart) is a commune of 825 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to Canton Ensisheim and in 2000 founded Kommunalverband Essor du Rhin.

Geography

Rustenhart is 13 km from Ensisheim and 12 km from Neuf- Brisach away. Belongs to this community and the Rheinfelderhof east of the railway line, which was attested in the 19th century. On the western side Rustenhart from the Rhine-Rhone canal is affected. The neighboring municipalities Rust Harts are Dessenheim in the north, Revels in the northeast, and Nambsheim Balgau in the east, Hirtzfelden in the south, the west and Niederentzen and Oberhergheim in the northwest.

Economy and infrastructure

The main road D2 of Neuf- Brisach after Ensisheim crosses Rustenhart in north-south direction. Furthermore, there are road links to Rouffach at the foot of the Vosges and in the villages along the Rhine to the east. The surrounding land is forested at special points or it is used for agriculture. Mostly corn is grown. Another important source of income is the small businesses.

Trivia

In Rustenhart is converted into a pub for eight days every three years, the Town Hall ( Mairie ). Reason is that in France no new outlet licenses are granted and expire existing licenses if they are not used at least to in the above period. As was the last publican of the village to give its license, it was taken over by the municipality, to save them as a last liquor license of the village.
