Peter Hain

Peter Gerald Hain ( born February 16, 1950 in Nairobi ) is a British Labour Party politician. From June 2007 to January 2008 he was Minister for Employment, pensions and Wales in the government of Gordon Brown.

Youth and Education

Peter Hain is the son of South African parents who had to leave due to her commitment against apartheid, the country and emigrated to London. He attended Emanuel School in London, after which he studied at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London and at the University of Sussex.

Political career

Hain was the first member of the Liberal Party, where he was elected chairman of the youth organization of the party. But in 1977 moved grove in the Labour Party, and founded the Anti- Nazi League ( ANL). 1991 Hain was elected to the House of Commons. As of 1995, it was his duty to act as a whip. Since 2002 Hain Secretary of State for Wales, and was also from May 6, 2005 Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. In 2007 he was also Minister for Work and Pensions under Gordon Brown. In January 2008, he passed for alleged entanglements back in a funding scandal.
