Popůvky (Brno-Country District)

Popůvky ( German Popuwek ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers west of the city of Brno at the outskirts and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Popůvky is located in the northern foothills of the Thaya Schwarza valley floor at the transition to Bobravská Highlands. The village is crossed by Troubský Potok ( Mühlbach ), the northern parts of municipalities creek from Augšperský. History

The first written mention of the village took place in 1349. The place was at that time the seat of the Vladikengeschlechts of Popůvky. Later, the goods have been connected to the rule Rossitz. After the abolition of patrimonial Popůvky / Popuwek formed in 1850 the Town of Troubsko in the Brno district. 1880, the place became independent. 1921 came to Popůvky Okres Brno- venkov.
