Rezin A. De Bolt

Rezin A. De Bolt ( born January 20, 1828 in Basil, Fairfield County, Ohio, † October 30, 1891 in Trenton, Missouri ) was an American politician. Between 1875 and 1877 he represented the State of Missouri in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Razon De Bolt attended the public schools of his home. After that he worked as a tanner. After studying law and its made ​​in 1856 admitted to the bar, he began practicing in this profession in Lancaster. Since 1858 he lived in Trenton ( Missouri). From 1859 to 1861 De Bolt was a school commissioner in the local Grundy County. During the Civil War he was a captain in the army of the Union. In April 1862 he fell during the Battle of Shiloh for 18 months in captivity. He suffered severe health problems. Towards the end of the war, De Bolt once again returned as a major back briefly in the army. Between 1863 and 1875 he was a judge in the Eleventh Judicial District of Missouri.

Politically De Bolt was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1874 he was in the tenth electoral district of Missouri in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Ira B. Hyde on March 4, 1875. Since he resigned in 1876 to run again, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1877. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives De Bolt worked as a lawyer again. He died on October 30, 1891 in Trenton, where he was also buried.
