Santa Marina de Salina is a city in the province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, with 895 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012).

History

The island of Salina, and thus the town of Santa Marina Salina were inhabited in prehistoric times. In the 4th century BC, a settlement was established on the territory of present-day village.

South of Santa Marina Salina is a salt lake, from which the name of the island and the resort derives. Salt production and the export of salt were by the end of the 19th century an important source of income of the islanders.
