Schröcken
Schröcken is one marked by the tourism community in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg with 213 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2013 ). The municipality is located in the district of Bregenz Bregenzerwald region and together with the neighboring village of Warth a major ski resort.

Geography
The community Schröcken lies in the western province of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the district of Bregenz southeast of Lake Constance at 1269 m altitude.
This high settlement at the headwaters of the Bregenzerach lies at the foot of Hochtannbergpasses. From Schröcken in the rearmost Bregenzerwald leads the Hochtannberg about Hochkrumbach, a hamlet in the neighboring village of Warth, the Lech Valley.
12.4 % of the total of 23.43 square kilometers of municipal territory is forested, 39.4 % of the area Alps.
Neighboring communities
Schröcken borders five other municipalities in Vorarlberg. Of these there are three, namely the municipalities Schoppernau, Mittelberg and Warth also in the district of Bregenz and the other two (Lech and Sunday) in the district of Bludenz. History
The area around Schröcken was first settled in 1300 by Walser, 1453 came to Austria and was subordinate to the Bailiwick Office Bregenz. The place was until 1806 the court Tannberg incorporated.
The Habsburgs ruled the areas in Vorarlberg changing of Tyrol and Further Austria from ( Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814, the town belonged to Bavaria, then back to Austria. For the Austrian state of Vorarlberg Schröcken heard since the foundation in 1861.
The place was from 1945 to 1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria.

Etymology
The place was originally called " Girsboden ". The name " Schröcken 'first appeared in the early 17th century.
Policy
The municipal council consists of 9 members. After the 2010 election Herbert Black man was elected mayor of the municipality Schröcken.
Schröcken part of the political district of Bregenz, and for the judicial district Bezau.
Culture and sights
Parish Church of Our Lady of the Assumption
In 1639 the first church was jerked around in Schröcken - Schröcken was to 1640 Branch of Lech. This church was enlarged in the years 1726-1732, 1863 destroyed by fire, 1864-1867 rebuilt and consecrated in 1867.
The parish church is surrounded by a walled cemetery, has a manic neuro nave and the north tower with a spire. The high altar wearing a Romanesque Revival canopy structure and characters from the Fidelis Rudhart (1876 ).
The altarpiece " Assumption of Mary " comes from Melchior Paul von Deschwanden (1876 ).
Chapel of the Annunciation ( in subsoil)
This chapel with its neo-Gothic altar was erected in 1778 instead of a previously ablated 1774 chapel and consecrated in 1779.
Economy and infrastructure
At the site there were in 2003 16 companies in the industrial sector with 141 employees and two apprentices. Taxable wage -employed, there were 97 tourism and tourism are important. In the tourism year 2001/2002 there were a total of 70 292 nights.
Traffic
The traffic is served by the Wälderbus 40 or 42 between Schoppernau and Warth / Lech am Arlberg. The stepped Bregenzerwald Federal Highway 200 is curvy and not (yet) quite closely.
Avalanche
By a landslide in early 2002 from Saloberkopf the distance above the mountain pass on the part Schröcken has in the meantime - Warth secured with avalanche drift fences. The road has now been straightened and further supported. The then rockfall result that a tidal wave was rolling down the Lech and bridges and standing on the river side buildings damaged / washed away. Therefore, a gradual restoration of the distance L 200 was needed.
Education
Locally there is (as of September 2010) 8 students. In Schröcken there is also a nursery, which currently attend eight children.
