Sigalens

Sigalens is a commune with 373 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Gironde department in the region of Aquitaine. She is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes du Pays d' Auros.

Geography

Sigalens is located near the border of the Lot- et- Garonne, 68 kilometers south-east of Bordeaux, 23 kilometers south-east of Langon and 12 kilometers east of Auros. The neighboring communities are Saint- Sauveur -de- Meilhan in the northeast, Cocumont in the east, in the southeast Grignols, Cauvignac in the south, southwest and Aillas Sendets in the northwest.

A motorway junction of Autoroute A62 is located 8 kilometers north of Sigalens. The nearest train station is 17 kilometers away from the village. It is located in La Réole on the line Bordeaux - Sète SNCF and TER Aquitaine.

History

The municipality was created in 1851 with the help of Sigalens community Aillas when the parishes Aillas, Sigalens, Aillas -le- vieux, Glayroux and Monclaris newly formed itself.

In March 1857, a land register sector of Sigalens secreted. The area assigned to him went over to the neighboring community Cocumont in the sequence.
