Rions

Rions is a commune in the Gironde department in the region of Aquitaine. The municipality is located in the catchment area of the city of Bordeaux. While Rions in 1962 still had 880 inhabitants, is one you currently 1592 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

The municipality belongs to the canton in the Arrondissement Cadillac Langon.

Rions is a wine community; the vineyards are among the appellations Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux and Cadillac.

  • Citadelle: defense tower from the 14th century as part of an extensive fortress.
  • Broussey monastery: The monastery was founded on April 9, 1841 and was the first creation of a new Carmel in France after the French Revolution.
