Stiring-Wendel

Stiring - helix ( German Stieringen - helix ) is a French town with 12.438 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The city stiring - helix is located directly on the German - French border. German neighbor is Saarbrücken, the largest French neighboring community is Forbach. The Franco-German border crossing Golden Bremm (French BREME d'or ) lies on the boundary of the neighboring community Spicheren. History

1846 an ironworks was founded on the site of today's stiring - helix. The industrialist family Wendel built a church, a school and housing units for the workers. 1857 appointed Napoleon III. the place by decree to the city.
