Talla

Talla is a municipality with 1117 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Arezzo, in Tuscany region of Italy.

Geography

The municipality covers about 60 square kilometers. It is located about 20 km north of Arezzo and 60 km southeast of Florence.

The districts include Bicciano, Capraia, Faltona, Pieve di Ponte Nano, Nano and Ponte Santo Bagnena.

The neighboring municipalities are Capolona, Castel Focognano, Castiglion Fibocchi and Loro Ciuffenna.

History

Talla is of Etruscan origin. 1888 Beech were Etruscan tombs from the 4th century BC found in the local district Le. In 1057 the castle for the first time in documents was mentioned. After 1249 Talle and its environs fell under the control of the Ubertini di Chitignano. As of 1314, it was passed in the possessions of the Tarlati family, after the death of Bishop Guido of Arezzo Tarlati fell Talla 1327 back into the hands of the Ubertini back. Due to the expansion policy of the Republic of Florence in 1353 Talle was forced to submit to this. The boundaries of the present-day village were established in 1809. During World War II the village was severely damaged, particularly arson in July 1944 destroyed most of the apartments. In addition, Talla is the starting point of a long-running legal dispute over compensation payments of the Federal Republic of Germany to former forced laborers because of Talla 1944, a then 18 -year-old was dragged by the Wehrmacht for forced labor.
