Trélex

Trélex is a municipality in the district of Nyon in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Trélex is located on 508 m above sea level. M., 4.5 km north of the district main town Nyon ( straight line ). The village is located at the foot of the Jura, on a slightly inclined to the southeast slope, in a scenic location around 130 m above the lake level of Lake Geneva.

The area of ​​5.7 km ² large municipality territory, which includes a section at the foot of the Jura. The municipality extends from the ground level at the foot of the Jura to the northwest over the slope of Trélex up in the wooded area on the eastern slope of the Bois de Trélex La Dole. Population

With 1355 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Trélex belongs to the medium-sized municipalities in the canton of Vaud. Of the 80.0% inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 8.6 % and 8.4 % in English (as of 2000). The population of Trélex amounted in 1900 to 305 inhabitants. After 1960 (301 inhabitants ) continued a rapid increase in population with a quadrupling of the number of inhabitants within 40 years.

Economy

Trélex was until the mid-20th century embossed mainly by agriculture village. Below the village there are two small wine-growing areas ( cultivated is mainly Chasselas here to German Chasselas ), otherwise the concentrated agriculture thanks to the fertile soil on farming. Traffic

Although the community is located off of larger thoroughfares, but traffic still technically well developed. The motorway connection Nyon on the A1 ( Geneva -Lausanne ) is only about 3 km from the resort. History

Archaeological excavations have shown that even in ancient times to the present-day municipality existed a Roman villa. On the northern edge of the village you can also still the remains of a Roman fortification wall look. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1145 under the name Trailai 1296 appeared the name Trelai ( which means " beyond the forest "). During the Middle Ages Trélex belonged to the rule Gingins, the village church was under the Cistercian abbey Bonmont.
