Vidnoye, Moscow Oblast

Vidnoye (Russian Видное; scientific transliteration Vidnoe ) is a Russian city in Moscow Oblast. It is situated near the southeastern border of the city of Moscow, about two kilometers south of the ring road MKAD, and has 56 752 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

History

Vidnoye - literally translated as " the visible ", possibly should point to the location of the village high on the hills - emerged from a Datschensiedlung, which in turn was built on the site of the former estate Vidnoye from 1902. 1949 received the Datschensiedlung the status of a working class neighborhood and has been extended to several residential quarters for the staff of an erected near coke plant. On January 3, 1965, the settlement received town rights and also became the administrative center of Moscow Oblast within the Rajons.

Near the town is the former estate of the settlement Gorki Leninskiye where revolutionary leader, Lenin died in 1924. After this also the Rajon is named, whose center is Vidnoye.

Economy and Transport

In addition to the coking plant, which currently belongs to the Russian mining company Mechel, the industry is represented in Vidnoye among other things, a factory for metal structures. Due to the proximity of the city to Moscow, however, many residents of Vidnoye work there.

Vidnoye is located on the Russian highway M4 ( European route E 115 ) from Moscow to Novorossiysk. Near the city also runs the railway highway Moscow - Lipetsk. The part belonging to Vidnoye train station is Rastorgujewo and is holding point for many local trains that connect the Paveletskaya Station in Moscow Domodedovo with cities like or Kashira. The urban public transport consists of buses and Marschrutka - lines connecting Vidnoye with Moscow. Since 2000, the city also has a small trolleybus line network.
