Castel Sant'Angelo, Lazio

Castel Sant'Angelo is a municipality in the province of Rieti in the Italian region Latium, located about 1303 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The village is located about 80 km northeast of Rome.

Geography

The place is located in the valley of the Velino on the Via Salaria, surrounded by the mountains of Abruzzo Reatinischen. He is a member of the Comunità Montana del Velino.

History

The place dates back to the Middle Ages. Until 1530, he was the property of the Counts Mareri family, focused in the southern landscape of Cicolano.
