Torgnon

Torgnon is an Italian municipality in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley with 537 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012).

Geography

The municipality lies at an altitude of 870 m in Valtournenche, a side valley of the Valle d'Aosta.

From the old village Torgnon Valtournenche has his name Vallis Tornenchia was to Valtournenche. During the Fascist period it received the Italianate name Torgnone.

The community Torgnon consists of the districts Berzin, CHAMPAGNOD, Champeille, Chantorné Chaté, Châtelard, Chatrian, Cheille, Chésod, Étirol, Fossemagne, Gilliarey, Gombaz, Lévaz, Mazod, Mongnod ( chef-lieu ), Nozon, Pecou, Petit- Monde, Ponty, Septumian, Triatel Valleil, Verney, Vesan lingerie, Vesan Dessus, extending up to 1500 m. However, the area extends up to an altitude of about 3200 m.

The neighboring municipalities are Antey -Saint -André, Bionaz, Châtillon, Nus, Saint -Denis, Valtournenche and Verrayes.

Economy

In addition to the mining industry, which also includes the manufacture of special Raw Milk Cheese Fontina Val d'Aosta heard played by the tourism, especially winter tourism with about 20 km of ski slopes, an important economic role.
