Montjovet

Montjovet is an Italian municipality in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley. The municipality has 1817 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012), is located at an average altitude of 406 m slm and has a size of 18 km ². The inhabitants are called mongiovettini ( it.) or montjouvins (French ). Montjovet is a member of the Association of Municipalities Comunità Montana Evançon.

Montjovet consists of the districts (Italian Frazioni, French Hameau ) Balmet, Barmachande, Barmata, Berger, Berriaz, Bourg, Broccard, Brun, Chambis, Champerioux, Champ- Sitirou, Chenal, Chenoz, Chosaley, Ciseran, Creston, Croux, Devin, Estaod, Fenillettaz, Fiusey, Fornet, Gaspard, Gettaz, Guaz, Grand Hoël, Janton, lava, Laveuché, Lillaz, Loria, Merano, Montat, Montquert, Muret, Oley, Plangerp, perral, Petit- Hoël, Petit- Monde, Plout, Provaney, Quignonaz, Reclou, Rodoz, Ross, Ruelle, Saint- Germain, Taverna, Toffo, Traversière, Tron, Vervaz, Viana and Vignola. Montjovet so is the municipality with the most districts within the region Valle d'Aosta. The neighboring municipalities are Challand -Saint -Victor, Champdepraz, Châtillon, Emarèse, Saint- Vincent and Verrès.

During the Fascist period, the municipality was the Italianate name Mongiove.

Specialty

In Montjovet wine production. The DOC wine Arnad - Montjovet contains at least 70 % from the Nebbiolo grape. In addition, the varieties Moscato, Dolcetto, Neyret, Vien de Nus and Pinot Noir find the entrance to the developed as a blending wine. The municipal area also thrives in the very rare grape variety Ner d' Ala.
