Valpelline, Aosta Valley

Valpelline is an Italian municipality in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley. The municipality has 655 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012), is situated on the left bank of the Dora Baltea to an average height of 960 m above sea level. Sea level and has a size of 16 km ².

The neighboring communities are called Doues Ollomont Oyace, QT, Roisan, Saint -Christophe.

The parish church St. Pantaleon is from the 18th century with valuable works of art.

During the Fascist period, the village was the Italianate name Valpellina.

Named the valley after the pass Grosser St. Bernhard, who was called in ancient times Poeninum iugum and on which the god was worshiped Poeninus.
