Gignod

Gignod is an Italian municipality in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley. The municipality has 1719 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012), is situated on the left bank of the Dora Baltea to an average height of 988 m slm and has a size of 28 km ².

The community belongs to the community association Comunità Montana Grand Combin and is their main village. It consists of the districts (Italian Frazioni, French Hameau ) Arliod, Arsanières, Buthier Gorrey, Buthier Verney, Caravex, Chambavaz, Champex, Long Champ, Champlorençal, Champorcher, Chatellâir, Chef -lieu, Chez Courtil, Chez Henry, Chez Percher, Chez Roncoz, Chez Roux, Chez Sentin, Clémencey, Colière, Cré, Crou, Faverge, Fiou, Gorrey, La Bédégaz, La Cau, La Chériéty, La Clusaz, La Condéminaz, La Forge, La Minchettaz, La Ressaz, Le Château, Les Cotes, Lexert, maisonettes, Meylan, Montjoux, Moré, Moulin, Petit- Quart, Perre - Besse, plan -Château, plan Meylan, Planet -Cote, Planet plan, Rovin, Roysod, Savin, Seycinod, Tercinod, Valcartey, Variney Véclos and Véfan. The neighboring communities are called Alone, Aosta, Doues Étroubles, Roisan, Saint- Oyen, Saint- Pierre, Saint- Rhémy -en -Bosses and Sarre.

Gignod is located in the lower part of the valley of the Great St. Bernard, a side valley of the Valle d'Aosta. The village lies on the main road that leads up to the Great St. Bernard.
