1989–90 ECHL season

The 1989/90 season was the second regular season of the East Coast Hockey League ( ECHL ). The eight teams completed in the regular season of 60 matches. The ECHL played the last time in only one division. The point of best team in the regular season were the Winston -Salem Thunderbirds, while the Greensboro Monarchs won in the play- offs for the first time the Riley Cup.

Team changes

The following changes were made before the start of the season:

  • The Carolina Thunderbirds changed their name to Winston -Salem Thunderbirds.
  • In the course of league expansion, the Greensboro Monarchs were taken.
  • In the course of league expansion, the Hampton Roads Admirals were taken.
  • In the course of league expansion, the Nashville Knights were taken.
