1995–96 ECHL season

The 1995/96 season was the eighth regular season of the East Coast Hockey League ( ECHL ). The 21 teams completed in the regular season every 70 encounters. The point of best team in the regular season were the Richmond Renegades, while the Charlotte Checkers won in the play-offs, their first Riley Cup ever.

Team changes

The following changes were made before the start of the season:

  • The Louisville Icehawks have been to Jacksonville, Florida, relocated and played from now on under the name Jacksonville Lizard Kings.
  • The Greensboro Monarchs stopped the game operation, as a follow-up team in the American Hockey League was taken with the Carolina Monarchs.
  • The Louisiana IceGators were added as an expansion team in the league.
  • The Louisville River Frogs were added as an expansion team in the league.
  • The Mobile Mysticks were added as an expansion team in the league.
