The Süper Lig 2000/ 01 was this season opened Kocaelispor against Fenerbahce on 11 August 2000. Galatasaray finished the championship against Trabzonspor on 26 May 2001, the 43rd season of the Süper Lig.
The championship decided Fenerbahce for itself ahead of local rivals Galatasaray. It was the 14 championship in club history Fenerbahçe. Thus, the series of four consecutively won championships of Galatasaray has been terminated. Descended were Siirt Jet - Pa, Erzurumspor and Adanaspor.
