Bang Khan District

Amphoe Bang Khan ( Thai: อำเภอ บาง ขัน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. The Nakhon Si Thammarat province is located in the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

The Nakhon Si Thammarat province lies about 780 kilometers south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand.

Neighbouring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Thung Yai and the Thung Song in Nakhon Si Thammarat, the Ratsada Amphoe Huai Yot and Wang Wiset in Trang Province and Amphoe Lam Thap, Krabi.

History

Bang Khan was 1 April 1984 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the three tambon Bang Khan, Ban Lamnao and Wang Hin from Amphoe Thung Song were separated. On 9 April 1992 Bang Khan has been promoted to Amphoe.

Management

Amphoe Bang Khan is divided into four communities ( tambon), which in turn in 60 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
