Nopphitam District

Amphoe Nopphitam ( Thai: อำเภอ น บ พิ ตำ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the north of the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. The Nakhon Si Thammarat province is located in the south of Thailand, about 780 kilometers south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand.

Geography

Neighbouring districts ( from northeast clockwise): Amphoe the Sihon, Tha Sala, Phrom Khiri and Phipun in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Amphoe Ban Na San and Kanchanadit in the province of Surat Thani.

In Nopphitam is also the northern part of Khao Luang National Park, which protects a large part of the Nakhon Si Thammarat - mountain range.

History

Nopphitam was established by four Tambon Tha Sala were separated from Amphoe on 1 April 1995 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ).

On 15 May 2007, the Thai government had decided that all 81 King Amphoe to rise in the simple Amphoe status to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette " Issue 124 chapter 46" of 24 August 2007, this decision officially entered into force.

Management

Amphoe Nopphitam is ( tambon) divided into four municipalities, which in turn in 35 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are also four " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
