BMW 2 Series

BMW M235i

The BMW 2er is a manufacturer BMW series. The compact class associated coupe produced since the end of 2013 and has been available since March 8, 2014.

The only two-door vehicle is to be a tribute to the legendary BMW 2002. The 2er coupe, as the BMW X1 and the five-door 1 Series in Saxony's BMW factory in Leipzig produced.

The 2er replaces the BMW 1 Series Coupé the first series and is also the sister model of the BMW F20. This means, among other things, that BMW will summarize his future coupes or convertibles under their own type designation.

Two gasoline engines are available for the start of series ( 220i with 135 kW (184 hp) and M235i with 240 kW ( 326 hp) ) and three diesel engines ( 218d with 105 kW ( 143 hp ), 220d with 135 kW (184 hp), 225d with 160 available kW (218 PS)).

In addition to the coupe, there will be also a 2er Convertible as more body styles.

Body / Design

The body has become a whole greater than the predecessor. For now 4.43 meters, it was about seven inches in length and put in the width and wheelbase by three inches too. Also, the enlarged to three inches wheelbase and grown to about four centimeters track extends in the interior for more head and shoulder room for all passengers and for more rear legroom. Moreover, this gives a bit more trunk that grows to 20 to 390 liters over its predecessor. Although larger than previously, of the 2 does not weigh more than before, and is in the wind tunnel also become even racier: With a smooth polished bodywork and aerodynamic tricks such as the so-called "Air- Curtains" before the wheels thus reducing the drag coefficient ( drag coefficient ) of 0.29.

A striking lateral bead of the body rises behind the front axle and runs uphill in the rear fender and is thus the dynamic sporty wedge shape stress. The flared wheel arches are also intended to emphasize the sportiness of the car body. On the hood there are four contour lines, which trace the flow of air.

By making the lower rear area and by the optical interaction between the two exhaust tailpipes, should the vehicle be look lower on the road. The particularly sporting character of the BMW M235i top model is highlighted by a spoiler lip on the boot lid. This has both an optical and a driving dynamic effect because it reduces lift at high speeds and increases the contact pressure of the vehicle.

The rear lights are each one piece and have wide, red LED light bar in an L shape.

There are three different design and equipment packages available: " Modern Line ", "Sport Line" and the famous "M Sport Package ".

Motors

All engines of the 2- series are ausgerüstest with turbochargers with the so-called " twin-scroll " technology. BMW calls these units " TwinPower Turbo engines ". This relatively new construction causes, among other things, that affect the pressure fluctuations in the exhaust streams mutually reinforcing; thus the exhaust gas back pressure is reduced and improves the gas exchange of the motor, which in turn improve fuel consumption, performance and responsiveness.

The petrol engines have two different engine capacity variants with 2.0 or 3.0 liter, variable valve timing ( " VANOS " ) and gasoline direct injection. The diesel engines have a common- rail fuel injection and all have the same displacement of 2.0 liters; it will only change the performance of each model.

BMW 220i The four-cylinder entry-level model with a petrol engine has a displacement of two liters, delivers 135 kW (184 hp) and offers a maximum torque of 270 Nm at an average consumption of 6.1 liters to 6.3 liters of fuel per 100 km with manual gearbox.

BMW M235i The top model has the 2- series with the most powerful engine an inline six- cylinder with a displacement of three liters. The power is 326 hp and 450 Nm of torque at an average fuel consumption from 7.6 to 8.1 liters per 100 kilometers, depending on the Gearbox.

BMW 218d The entry-level model with a diesel engine has a displacement of two liters, makes 143 hp with a torque of 320 Nm at a consumption from 4.3 to 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers.

BMW 220d The "average " diesel model though has the same displacement as all 2- diesel models, but here makes 184 hp and 380 Nm of torque and consumes 4.5 to 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers.

BMW 225d The top model with a diesel engine has an output of 218 hp and a torque of 450 Nm. The average consumption should be with stock 8-speed automatic transmission with 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers.
