BMW 6 Series
When BMW 6 Series are referred to three different series of BMW coupe model.
- The first 6-series was produced from October 1975 to April 1989 with the internal designation E24.
- The second 6-series was from August 2003 to July 2010 with the internal designations E63 ( coupe ) and E64 ( convertible) produced.
- The third 6-series is since March 2011 as a convertible (F12 ), since October 2011 as a coupe ( F13) and manufactured in June 2012 as the Gran Coupe ( F06 ).

Similar series
The origin of the BMW 6 Series, the BMW sports car may be considered 503, which was built 1956-1959 as a coupe and convertible. Then the executive coupé BMW 3200 CS took over this role (1962-1965 ). This in turn was replaced by a coupe of the upper middle class CS 2000 ( " New Class" ) ( 1965-1970 ). Complement and successor to the first real 6 was the top -class Coupe 3.0 CSi (E9 ) ( 1968-1975 ).
This exchange between the upper class and upper middle class has even after the first 6 through the 8 series ( E31 ) ( 1989-1999) and then the following 6 repeated.
