Burg, Bitburg-Prüm

Castle is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality New Castle.

Geography

The town castle is located in the Eifel region northeast of the community Mette village. Topographically the site is dominated by high plateaus and valleys, because it is located on a slight rise above the Enztals. This causes several smaller tributaries of the Enz ( Prüm ) arise here.

History

Near the castle were excavated pottery and coins from an urban area in Roman times. The place itself is first mentioned in 1136 as a Borg, 1140 as Burge. He was one of six stock goods for the dairy Mette village of the county of Vianden in Luxembourg since 1815 and to Prussia. After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Economy
