Uppershausen

Uppershausen is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality New Castle.

Geography

Uppershausen located on the edge of the South Eifel Nature Park. The municipality also includes the living space Merlbach.

History

By the end of the 18th century Uppershausen belonged to the Luxembourg rule New Castle and the management of the dairy Plascheid was assigned.

In 1794, French revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, which included the Duchy of Luxembourg, occupied and annexed in October 1795. From 1795 to 1814 the place to Canton New Castle belonged in the forests department.

In 1815, the former Luxembourg territory east of the Sauer and the Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Thus, the community came Uppershausen 1816 Bitburg in the Trier region in the province of the Grand Duchy of the Lower Rhine, which merged in 1822 in the Rhine Province, and was managed by the mayor Weidingen.

Attractions

  • A chapel at the site was originally built in 1939 as a reward for a healthy return from the First World War, but only in 1944 first used with a church as a church. In 1965, the present chapel was built in its place.
